'm pam cook. tori campbell is off. it's monday. april 15th. >>> a man is undergoing a medical evaluation after responding to a berkeley call. we're live on dwight way with alex savidge. >> reporter: police are still trying to sort through why this took place. this was an emergency medical call that for whatever reason turned violent. one berkeley firefighter grazed by a bullet when a man who lives in this house across the street started firing shots at firefighters. this is on the 1200 block of dwight way near san pablo. that firefighter was on the scene and didn't have to go to the hospital. police tell us the shooter is an 88-year-old man. this is video as he was taken away by paramedics for a mental evaluation. there were as many as five berkeley firefighters around 1:45 responding to that medical call when police say the man inside pulled out a gun and started firing shots. one of the firefighters was hit by a bullet but only suffered a glancing wound. the firefighters ran out of the house and police moved in to surround the place. there was a brief standoff between police and this a
clark. >> i'm pam cook. tori campbell has the morning off. it's tuesday, april 16th. >>> we begin with our developing news we've been following all morning. the fbi just wrapping up a news conference on the deadly bombings of the boston marathon. ktvu's alex savidge has been monitoring this conference with us in this newsroom and joins us now with the updates. >> reporter: well, good morning. the fbi did confirm a short time ago that a number of people have been questioned in this case but at this point, federal authorities say they do not have anyone in custody in connection with yesterday's attack in boston. at this point, there's no leading theory on what the motive might have been. within the last hour, we did get an update on the fbi on this investigation. this came out of boston. an fbi agent said investigators are still processing the scene of the bombing here near the finish line of the boston marathon. overnight, law enforcement agents searched a townhouse in the town of revere, right outside of boston. investigators were seen pulling a number of trash bags and a duffel

clark. >> good morning. i'm tori campbell. we want to go right to sal now with breaking news from san francisco. sal? >> all right. the smoke that was rising has become much less now. it's a house fire on holiday avenue between wright and peralta avenue. this fire is very close to cesar chavez street and highway 101. fire crews arrived on the scene. they were dispatched at 6:48. they got their quick. i heard the radio call during one of my traffic reports. they got there and knocked this down. it was reportedly a fire that started in the garage of this house and you can definitely see that there's smoke coming up but they have -- but they've declared the fire contained at this time in san francisco. stay with ktvu. we'll let you know as we find out more about the fire. we don't know if anyone has been injured or not. back to the desk. >>> thank you, sal. also happening now in san jose, within the past hour, firefighters raced to the scene of a popular south bay restaurant. ktvu's christien kafton joins us live from the scene to tell us what they found when they got there. good morning
morning. welcome to "mornings on 2." i'm dave clark. >> i'm tori campbell. we begin with sal. >> breaking news, crash, involving a transit bus and several other vehicles. ktvu's claudine wong is on the scene as we look at live pictures from newschopper2. they are working hard to clear the lanes. looks like one of the paramedic vehicle is just leaving -- vehicles is just leaving. let's go to claudine? >> reporter: five cars were involved. you can see multiple tow trucks out here trying to get these cars out of the way. pretty decent damage to the back of at least several cars that we've seen. the vta bus is actually up in front of that tow truck that you are looking at right now. now, i've talked to the chp about what happened and a witness out here who also stopped after this all happened. he says it all started with one car who rear ended another and then fell out of the car for some reason and that car drifted across the lanes and that's when all of these multiple collisions happened. here's the witness who pulled over describing what happened -- >> someone got rear ended here. the car
in for tori campbell. it's weandz -- wednesday, april 17th. >>> we're following new developments into the boston marathon bombings. claudine wong has more from the newsroom with more on the information we're learning this morning about the evidence and the victims. claudine? >> there's been a lot of information coming out about both the victims and evidence. want to start out with the pictures. these were just released overnight and it will give us a good look at the evidence. twisted metal in the pressure cookers, remnants of the black bags that authorities believe those bombs were transported in and these give us a good look at some of the other evidence found there. you have the batteries found there at the scene. you have wires and that appears to be some kind of circuit board, all evidence that authorities hope will lead them to the person responsible for the attack. when you talk about the scene in boston, this morning streets remain blocked off. they are still processing the scene. and a lid from one of the pressure kooblgers was found ashe -- cookers was found on the roof
